I have been obsessing a bit about how to get my whites whiter since eschewing chlorine bleach. After a few hits and misses, I find I prefer Ecover, an eco-friendly bleach alternative, but add a few scoops of OxyClean with it for good measure. My whites are white, but they aren't
white. I've just purchased my first box of Borax to use in this weekend's laundry, so we'll see if that adds a level of zing to it. Still, I almost feel that I'm adding about as many cleansers to my wash as clothing. Being determined to find a simple solution, I found a few links that give other tips.
Add a few tablets of aspirin, one commenter shared. Boil your whites in water and lemon slices. Hydrogen peroxide was another suggestion. Still not simple, but certainly easy. Let me know if you have an eco-friendly favorite. And I'll let you know how this weekend's experiment comes out.

ReplyDeleteThe Borax made somewhat of a difference. Clothes were softer. And I skipped the OxyClean. We'll see if I don't notice more of a difference after a few other washes. xo
